La Fuente, playa

La Fuente, playa La playa La Fuente, ubicada en San Vicente de las Barquera; en la costa occidental de Cantabria, es una pequeña cala de 150 metros de longitud y 20 metros de anchura media. Conservada prácticamente en estado natural, presenta baja ocupación y no dispone de ningún servicio.

La Punta de África, a la izquierda, y la Punta del Fraile, a la derecha, contienen la ensenada y delimitan el arenal. Sus reducidas dimensiones y orografia descubren un entorno singular. Abierta al mar, recibe la fuerza del Cantánbrico que baña la costa y es modulado por los acantilados de la zona. El fuerte oleaje que llega a La Fuente abre a ambos lados. El corto recorrido que alcanzan las ondas favorece las maniobras. La profundidad de la Ensenada de Fuentes proporciona varios picos de olas, a diferentes distancias de la orilla. A medida que avanzamos hacia mar abierto las corrientes, ya presentes, aumentan su fuerza. Por este motivo, adentrarse a los picos alejados es sólo recomendable para surfers experimentados y conscientes de los riesgos.

La apartada localización, las dimensiones, rocas y corrientes son características que definen a esta cala y proyectan virtudes que ayudan a desconectar mientras se surfea y disfruta de su diferente navegación.

La Fuente, beach

La Fuente, beach The beach of La Fuente, located in San Vicente de la Barquera; on the western coast of Cantabria, it is a small cove with 150 meters of length and 20 meters of average width. Preserved practically in natural condition, it presents low occupation and has not any service.

The Tip of Africa, to the left side, and the Tip of El Fraile, to the right, contain the inlet and delimit the sandbank. Its limited dimensions and orography discover a singular environment. Opened the sea, it receives the force of the Cantánbrico that washes the coast and is modulated by the cliffs of the zone. The strong surge that comes to La Fuente opens to both sides. The short tour that the waves reach favors the maneuvers. The depth of the Inlet of Fuentes provides several beaks of waves, to different distances of the shore. As we advance towards open sea the currents, already present, increases its force. Due to this motive, to enter to the remote beaks, is only advisable for experienced surfers and conscious of the risks.

The isolated location, the dimensions, rocks and currents are features that define to this cove and project virtues that help to disconnect while you are surfing and enjoying its different navigation.

Punta Liñera, playa

Sus reducidas dimensiones, apenas 150 metros en un parte más ancha; con la arena sólo visible en marea baja, sirven de acceso a un entorno que ofrece múltiples posibilidades.

Punta Liñera, nombre que recibe el cabo que protege y bautiza la cala, forma una ensenada que es acotada en su extremo derecho por la Punta del Castillo. La rasa mareal que cimenta sus fondos contribuye a crear un rico ecosistema y contribuye a la biodiversidad de sus aguas. Fondos de roca pulida y erosionada por efecto del Mar Cantábrico a lo largo del tiempo habitan cerca de la costa. Más allá, el Mar arriba libre recorriendo la costa y formando una ola característica de izquierdas, rápida y tubera.

EL paseo por los acantilados descubre la amplitud del entorno y su riqueza paisajística. Hacia el Oeste la costa de Pechón, al Este la costa de San Vicente de la Barquera. Refulgente visión que fusionará el espacio con la imaginación

Liñera Tip, beach

Its limited dimensions, no more than 150 meters in its width; with the sand only visible in low tide, is used as access to an environment that offers multiple possibilities.

Liñera Tip, name that receives the end that protects and baptizes the cove, forms an inlet that is annotated in its right wing by El Castillo Tip. The tidal plain that establishes its funds helps to create a rich ecosystem and the biodiversity of its waters. Funds of polished and eroded rock by effect of the Cantabrian Sea throughout the time are near the coast. La Virgen del Mar, playa

En la península que contiene la Ermita que da nombre a la playa, el Mar Cantábrico baña su perímetro en marea alta. Un puente que habilita el acceso a la península desde la costa, configurando su dibujo, habilitando una zona con un pequeño arenal en su cara este.

Las reducidas dimensiones de la playa, 180 metros de longitud y 50 metros de anchura media, junto con la presencia de rocas y fuertes corrientes condicionan la practica de deportes acuáticos. Destaca la pesca deportiva y el submarinismo. La práctica del surf debido a las condiciones no es apta. Las olas sesgadas, de corto recorrido y baja calidad convierte el baño en una grata experiencia, respetando las indicaciones y cuando el mar lo permita.

El entorno formado por la Ermita, la playa, los arenales y la peninsula constituyen un lugar de descanso y contemplación a través de los pasos que crucen los múltiples senderos que el tiempo marcó sobre la tierra y el viento recorre cuando la brisa marina llega a su encuentro.

La Virgen del Mar, beach

In the peninsula that contains the Hermitage that gives name to the beach, the Cantabrian Sea soaks its perimeter in high tide. A bridge that enables the access to the peninsula from the coast, forming its drawing, contributes to create a zone with a small sandbank in its East face.

The limited dimensions of the beach, 180 meters of length and 50 meters of average width, adding the presence of rocks and strong currents determine the practice of aquatic sports. Amio, playa

Icono Español. Icon Spanish. Amio, playa La playa de Amió está situada en la localidad de Pechón, perteneciente al municipio de Val de San Vicente. Situada entre las rías de Tina Mayor y Tina menor es una de las playas más occidentales de Cantabria. Emplazada a apenas unos kilómetros de Asturias, disfruta del Mar Cantábrico que recibe en estado natural.

La fisonomía de su arenal , con 700 metros de longitud, une las Lastras de Pechón a la costa. El lado izquierdo de la playa está acotado por la Punta de Pechón que esculpida por el efecto de la fuerza del mar, conforma una amplia e idílica ensenada. La marea baja redimensiona la playa descubriendo un pequeño paseo jalonado por rocas y formaciones geológicas . La marea alta oculta a Amió en su 80% y aumenta la riqueza de sus fondos marinos. Dualidad perpetua que la Luna trae consigo y que hace brillar a Amió con especial luz.

La presencia de corrientes y la fuerza del mar aconsejan extremar la precaución en la practica de deportes acuáticos. Las fuertes condiciones, abundancia de rocas y la falta de trazabilidad en su oleaje la convierten en una zona no apta para practicar surf. Destacan la pesca deportiva y el submarinismo.

El empinado acceso a Amió dificulta la entrada a la playa y ofrece una panorámica del lugar desde donde poder disfrutar de la inmensidad del océano reflejada en un punto, en un instante.

Amio, beach

Placed between the stuaries of Tina Mayor and Tina Menor is one of the most western beaches of Cantabria. Located to scarcely a few kilometres of Asturias, it enjoys the Cantabrian Sea that receives in natural condition.

The physiognomy of its sandbank, with 700 meters of length, joins the Lastras of Pechón to the coast. The left side of the beach is delimited by the Tip of Pechón that, carved for the effect of the sea force, shapes a wide and idyllic inlet. The low tide redraws the beach discovering an small area marked by rocks and geological formations. The high tide conceals Amió in its 80 % and increases the wealth of its sea beds. Perpetual duality that the Moon brings with it and that makes shine to Amió with special light.

The presence of currents, and the force of the sea advise us to carry to extremes the caution in the practice of aquatic sports. The strong conditions and abundance of rocks, and the lack of traceability in its surge turn it into a not suitable zone to practise surf. The sport fishing and the scuba diving stand out.

The steep access to Amió complicates the access to the beach and offers a panoramic view of the place from where being able to enjoy the immensity of the ocean reflected in a point, in an instant.

San Juan de la Canal, playa

Situada a menos de 10 km de Santander, en la costa central de Cantabria; goza de la proximidad a la capital cántabra conservando recogimiento y parte de su condición natural. Las reducidas dimensiones de la playa, 600 metros de longitud y 50 metros de ancho medio, disponen un arenal llano, de fina y endurecida arena.

La Punta de San Juan de la Canal, cabo situado en dirección este, contiene a la playa en el principio de su cara interior. El Pico del Sol, alejado del arenal y situado en la prolongación de su lado derecho, delimita la zona de influencia de la playa. El contorno que rodea la playa, dispone de varias carreteras, caminos y senderos que facilitan la entrada desde prácticamente cualquier punto.

El fondo rocoso, con abundante pradera marina, crea un hábitat rico y diverso. Las aguas de color verde azuladas reflejan la naturaleza del Mar Cantábrico, que pule las rocas y fondo marino convirtiendo a esta zona en un lugar de alto valor para la practica del submarinismo, el baño y paddle surf.

Placed less than 10 km from Santander, on Cantabria’s central coast; it enjoys the proximity to the Cantabrian capital, preserving its privacy and part of its natural condition. The limited dimensions of the beach, 600 meters of length and 50 meters of average width, creates a flat sandbank, of thin and hard sand.

The Tip of San Juan de la Canal, end placed in East direction, contains to the beach in the beginning of its interior face. The Beak of the Sol, removed from the sandbank and placed in the prolongation of its right side, delimits the zone of influence of the beach. The contour that surrounds the beach, has several roads, ways and paths that facilitate the entry from practically any point.

The rocky bottom, with abundant marine meadow, creates a rich and diverse habitat. The bluish waters of green color reflect the nature of the Cantabrian Sea, which smooths the rocks and sea bed converting to this zone into a place of high value for the practice of the scuba diving, the swimming and paddle-surf.

Comillas, playa

Icono Español. Icon Spanish. Comillas, beach La playa de Comillas, ubicada en el municipio Comillas, se extiende más allá del Paseo Marítimo de la villa a lo largo de 900 metros. La anchura media del arenal, 40 metros, proporciona una gran zona de ocio con varios puntos de entrada al arenal y numeroso aparcamiento a lo largo de su recorrido.

La Punta de la Guerra, que delimita a la playa por el oeste, contiene el puerto pesquero. Sobresaliendo de la línea de costa, protege parcialmente a la playa y filtra el oleaje que llega del noroeste. La Punta del Miradoiro, alejada del arenal y situada en su parte este, no tiene incidencia sobre las olas. Ambos cabos delimitan la gran ensenada de Comillas, que es su mitad izquierda contiene a la playa.

El oleaje moderado, con tamaños de 1 a 2 metros, destaca en otoño e invierno. Cuando las grandes mareas de septiembre arriban al Cantábrico esta parte de la costa, que recibe normalmente menos tamaño y fuerza, registra condiciones practicables para navegar. Ondas que abren a ambos lados, de pequeño recorrido y propicias para practicar maniobras. La presencia habitual de viento en la playa la convierte en una zona ideal para practicar kite-surf y wind-surf.

Es la playa de Comillas una parte del atractivo de la villa, donde lo bello amalgama naturalidad e historia. El paso tranquilo y sencillo por sus calles adoquinadas reportarán al caminante múltiples sensaciones. Recuerdos de tiempos pasados que habitan el presente y el mar completará.

The average width of the sandbank, 40 meters, provides a great zone of leisure with several points of entry to the beach and numerous parking along its tour.

The Guerra Tip which delimits to the beach for the west, contains the fishing port. Standing out of the line of coast, it partially protects the beach and leaks the surge that comes from the northwest. The Miradoiro Tip, removed from the sandbank and placed in its east, does not have incident on the waves. Both ends delimit the great inlet of Comillas, which in its left half it contains to the beach.

The moderate surge, with sizes from 1 to 2 meters, stands out in autumn and winter. When the big tides of September arrive at the Cantabrian one this part of the coast, which receives normally less size and force, registers practicable conditions to sail. Waves that open to both sides, with small tour and usefull to practise maneuvers. The habitual presence of wind in the beach turns it into an ideal zone to practise kite-surf and windsurfing.

It is the beach of Comillas a part of the attractive of the villa, where the beauty amalgamates naturalness and history. Covachos, playa

Covachos, playa La playa de Covachos se encuentra en la localidad de Soto de la Marina, perteneciente al municipio de Santa Cruz de Bezana; en la costa central de Cantabria. Esta especial cala, emplazada en un entorno idílico, tiene una longitud aproximada de 300 metros y 20 metros de anchura media que se distribuyen en dos pequeñas calas separadas en marea alta. La bajamar descubre completamente la playa, apareciendo un arenal con forma de media luna que conecta la línea de costa con la Isla del Castro a través de su fina y dorada arena.

Los acantilados de Covachos, curvan su recorrido y contienen al arenal. Desde ese anfiteatro y a mano derecha, continua la playa paralela a la costa. La Isla del Castro delimita su parte final y dispone dos vertientes para el disfrute. La primera zona que da a la ensenada, formada por el entorno, es una zona tranquila y protegida del Mar Cantábrico. La zona este da entrada a las aguas de mar abierto.

El descanso sobre la arena de Covachos relaja al caminante. La contemplación de su entorno oxigena el ánimo a través de la catarsis producida por la naturaleza y su arte. El inicio se convierte en final y la perspectiva cambia a cada paso, pues en pocos metros aparecen muchas posibilidades.

El acceso elevado y escarpado que desciende hasta la arena, la presencia de rosas y las corrientes que rigen las mareas de la zona aconsejan precaución en Covachos y permitir así que la zona capture la atención que el paso del tiempo hará permanecer en el recuerdo.

This special cove located in an idyllic environment, has an approximate length of 300 meters and 20 meters of average width that are distributed in two small coves separated in high tide. The low tide discovers completely the beach, appearing a sandbank with form of half moon that connects the line of coast with the Island of the Castro across its thin and golden sand.

The cliffs of Covachos curl its tour and contain to the sandbank. From this amphitheatre, to right side, the beach continues parallel to the coast. The Island of the Castro delimits its final part and arranges two slopes for the enjoyment. Its first zone that gives to the inlet formed by the environment, is a calm zone protected from the Cantabrian Sea. The east zone gives entry to the waters of open sea.

The repose on Covachos’s sand relaxes the wayfarer. The contemplation of its environment oxygenates the spirit across the catharsis produced by the nature and its art. The beginning turns in end and the perspective changes to every step, since in few meters many possibilities appear.

The slope and steep access that descends up to the sand, the presence of rocks and the currents that govern the tides of the zone, advise precaution in Covachos and so to allow the zone capture the attention that the passage of time will make remain in the recollection.

La Arnía, playa

Icono Español. Icon Spanish. La Arnía, playa La playa de la Arnía se encuentra en la localidad de Liencres, perteneciente al municipio de Piélagos; en la costa central de Cantabria. Su arenal de reducido tamaño, 150 metros de longitud y 50 metros de anchura media, da entrada a un área mayor delimitada por acantilados que parcialmente filtran y modulan el oleaje.

La línea de costa, situada en el ala derecha de la playa, define la extensión de La Arnía. El ala izquierda dispone de un escarpe rocoso, resto erosionado de la arcaica costa cántabra, que protege parte de la pequeña ensenada. Esta formación, debido al efecto del Mar Cantábrico, redefine su figura tanto sobre el nivel del mar como en su plataforma base. El acceso se realiza a través de una empinada cuesta. Precediendo a La Arnía, desde la rampa de entrada y a su lado izquierdo, se encuentra un entorno formado por rasa mareal, acantilados y otras formaciones geológicas de singular belleza.

El oleaje es generalmente fuerte, siendo hábil para practicar surf cuando su tamaño es medio-bajo. Las fuertes condiciones de la zona y las limitadas dimensiones de la playa condicionan la navegación. Destacan los fondos marinos, que con el mar en calma suponen un disfrute para los sentidos.

La Arnía, beach

Its sandbank of limited size, 150 meters of length and 50 meters of average width, gives entry to a bigger area delimited by cliffs that partially leak and modulate the surge.

The line of coast, placed in the right wing of the beach, defines the extension of La Arnía. The left wing has one scarp rocky, eroded rest of the archaic Cantabrian coast, which protects part of the small inlet. This formation, due to the effect of the Cantsabrian Sea re-defines its figure so much on the level of the sea as in its base platform. The access is realized across an steep slope. Preceding La Arnía, from the ramp of entry and its left side, finds an environment formed by level mareal, cliffs and other geological formations with singular beauty.

The waves are generally strong, being adept at surfing when its size is medium-low. The strong conditions in the area and the limited dimensions of the beach condition the navigation. Highlights the seabed, posed a treat for the senses with the calm sea.

Portio, playa

Icono Español. Icon Spanish. Portio, playa La playa de Portio se encuentra en la localidad de Liencres, perteneciente al municipio de Piélagos, en la costa central de Cantabria. Es una pequeña playa, de 150 metros de longitud y 40 metros de anchura media, a modo de cala y situada dentro de una ensenada formada por la erosión del mar en esta parte de la costa.

La ensenada que comparte Portio con otras playas, a pesar de tener un entorno urbanizado, dispone de gran riqueza paisajística, geológica y marina. Protegida por grandes rocas dispuestas verticalmente, rodeada por acantilados y con fondos esculpidos sobre pliegues de rocas erosionados, conserva su estado natural y salvaje. La disposición de la playa en mar abierto hace que reciba las corrientes marinas de la zona. Los de urros que se encuentran a la entrada de la ensenada cercenan el oleaje cuya dirección choca contra las rocas resultando sus olas de tamaño medio, bajo y de carácter ocasional.

La practica de surf en Portio se reserva a una experiencia puntual cuando las olas traigan buenas condiciones y el estado del mar lo permita. Otras actividades como la pesca y el buceo encuentran en la playa de Portio un marco incomparable. Su oferta geológica y el trasiego que el mar hace en la zona, favorecen la diversidad de especies marinas. Los rincones que aparecen a cada paso irán redibujando la playa, consumiendo nuestro tiempo a través de su historia.

San Julián, playa

Icono Español. Icon Spanish. San Julián, playa La playa de San Julián se encuentra en la localidad y municipio de Liendo, situado en la costa oriental de Cantabria. Sus reducidas dimensiones, 100 metros de longitud y 20 metros de anchura media, descubren una cala salvaje y recogida entre acantilados que se emplaza en la Ensenada de la Yesera.

La Punta de El Ahorcado, sobresaliendo en la línea de costa, delimita la parte izquierda del arenal y cobija a San Julián; que se encuentra en el recodo que forma la costa con la cara este de la punta. Hacia la derecha de la playa ,se abre la ensenada; extendiendo el área de influencia de la playa. La punta de Yesera acota la zona en su ala derecha. Destaca, antes de su extremo, la Punta El Orao; un pequeño cabo que proporciona una perspectiva del entorno y da acceso a una zona de mar abierto con fondo marino diverso y rocoso.

La arena oscura y gruesa revela el origen del arenal que la fuerza del Mar Cantábrico y los acantilados del Monte Candina han ido formando a través de los siglos. El oleaje, modulado por el entorno, es moderado; con olas de pequeño recorrido que abren a ambos lados. La vista desde el agua de los acantilados, el verdor de los prados y el olor del mar suspendido en el aire, quizás nos transporte a otro tiempo.

San Julián, beach

Its limited dimensions, 100 meters of length and 20 meters of average width, discover a cove wild and secluded between cliffs that are located in the Inlet of Yesera.

El Ahorcado Tip, standing out in the line of coast, delimits the left part of the sandbank and shelters San Julián that is in the bend that the coast forms with the east face of the tip. Towards the right of the beach, the inlet is opened and extends the influence area of the cove. The Yesera Tip annotates the zone in its right wing. Stands out, before its end, El Orao Tip; an small end that provides a perspective of the environment and leads to a zone of open sea with diverse and rocky sea bed.

The dark and coarse sand reveals the origin of the sandbank that the force of the Cantabrian Sea and the cliffs of the Mount of Candina have been forming across the centuries. The surge, modulated by the environment, is moderate; with waves of small tour that open to both sides. The sight from the water of the cliffs, the greenery of the meadows and the smell of the sea suspended in the air, would probably transport us to another time.
